Name originates from the title "River of our Lady of Mercy" given to the river by Spanish explorer Gabriel Moraga. Merced is a free flowing river and only runs in the spring from April to July depending on winter snow pack. The 28 miles of the Merced River from Red Bud to Bagby contains two sections.
The Sierra Nevada is a mountain range located in U.S. states of California and Nevada. The range is also known as "the Sierra", "the High Sierra and "the Sierras". Yosemite falls is the highest measured waterfall in North America. Being 739 meters from the top of the upper falls to the base of the lower falls qualifies Yosemite falls as the seventh highest waterfall in the world. Although referred as two-stage drop, the falls actually consist of three sections: Upper Falls, Middle Cascades and Lower falls.
El Captain is a vertical rock formation in Yosemite National Park, located o the north side of Yosemite Valley, near its western end. El Captain is one of nature’s most impressive monuments standing 3000 ft over the valley floor. El Captain is one of the world’s greatest rock climbing challenges.
Bridalveil fall is one of the most important waterfalls in California, seen yearly by millions of visitors to Yosemite National Park. Bridalveil Fall is 188 meters and flows year round. Primary source of Bridaveil Falls is Ostrander Lake, some 16 kilometers to the south.
Half dome is a granite crest rises more than 4,737 ft above the valley floor. Half dome is located in northeastern Mariposa Country, California, at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley. For many years, people were not able to climb Half Dome, but in 1919 a cable route was added to Half Dome’s eastern face and Yosemite hikers can now pull themselves up the steep grade to the top.
Three Brothers are a rock formation in Yosemite Valley, California, USA. They are located just east of El Captain and are made up of Eagle Peak and Middle and Lower Brothers.
